NOTE: REGISTRATION IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Anyone can participate in the workshop, and does NOT require enrollment in Purdue University. At the week-long PURDUE GUITAR WORKSHOP (JULY 6-10) you'll learn about the technical aspects of designing and building guitars and make your own custom instrument. On the first day, you'll get your own kit of materials with much of the major machining work already done on precision CNC mills. Over the five days of the class, you'll shape and assemble your guitar, learn to set it up for best performance and maybe even participate in a jam session with your new instrument. CUSTOMIZE THE GUITAR YOU BUILD: • One of four different designs o Single cutaway with two humbuckers o Double cutaway with two humbuckers o Double cutaway with three singles o Bass with single humbucker • Dark or Light Fret Board • Seymour-Duncan Pickups (’59 Humbuckers, Classic Strats or Soapbar Bass) • Fender Hardtail Bridge and Fender In-Line Tuners (3/3 tuners available on request) Interspersed with the building sessions, there will be talks by experts in guitar design and testing and demonstrations on making parts using modern production methods. Representatives from Taylor Guitars, Fender Guitars, Seymour Duncan and Stewart-MacDonald will be there, so you'll be working with people on the leading edge of the industry.
